What are Golf
Cart Games?
We have come up with an event in which we
make up games that can be played from Golf carts. Each year we try to
create a new game to be added to the event. A couple events have been so
popular that we keep them for an annual event, the other games get
switched out for a New Adventure. Read below to see a brief description of
each event...
We've just completed our 7th annual Golf Cart Games Day. Each year we have
an annual Hog Roast and Golf Cart Games Day. This year we elected to go
with Pork Loins and cooked up about 80lbs of loin. Thanks to "Uncle Larry"
and his skill at loins, we had a mixture of BBQ Pork, Larry's Secret
Recipe and Plain pork cooked to perfection. The many side dishes provided
by our campers were plentiful and complimented to meal. Thanks for all the
GREAT food!!!
Back to the games...
Our Annual Golf Cart Games Weekend offers a full
days activities and allot of fun for everyone. Watching the events was
almost as good as participating in them.. Mary comes up with the many
games and we thank her for all her time she puts in to make our activities
a success. This years games included our "classics" along with a few new
games. Where and how she comes up with some of the events is beyond my
capabilities...LOL
We started off with our Poker Run where each
participant drew a card to build their poker hand. In between each round
they return to the "dealer" and drew another card. The accumulation of
cards will build their Poker Hand for additional points added to their
score.
We then Sent the participants off to "Capture The
Flag". The golf carts are given a certain amount of time to search the
campground for hidden checkered flags. Each flag is worth 25 points and
special flags were hidden worth 50 to 200 points. After the designated
time, the points were tallied. Another round of poker then off for the
"Don't Drop the Egg" evant.
We attached plastic sleds to the golf cart and
the passenger sat in the sled holding an egg on a spoon while the driver
"attempted" to pull them across the finish line. Not everybody made it.
Boy those eggs can make a mess of a plastic sled and maybe a little on
someone's clothes...Another card from the dealer and we went to the lower
section for a bean bag toss.
We placed "targets" around the boat parking area
and each golf cart got 16 tries to hit one of the 20 targets. We had
several targets worth more points that others. The Accountants (Mary &
Beckie) tallied the scores for each round. You could sure tell who's been
playing the bean bag game! Then back to the dealer for another card.

The group then headed back to the front field for
the next event.
Our Annual "Musical Golf Carts" game. A lot like
musical chairs, we place plastic balls inside a circle and have the golf
carts rotate around the outer line. When the music stops, the golf cart
must come to a complete stop (SAFETY FIRST!) before the passenger jumps
off to retrieve a ball. There is always one less ball than golf carts
which makes this an action packed game. Back to the dealer to get
another card. The cards are starting to accumulate and hands are being
formed.

Next up was another favorite our
Annual Horse Race. We have six lanes and 10 to 12 lines painted in our
front field. Each cart picks a lane then we roll dice for the carts to
advance. For instance, if we roll a 2, 3, 4 then lanes 2, 3, & 4 advance
to the next line. This continues until we get the "Win, Place & Show" for
each feat. The "Win & Place" advance to the next level until we get to the
final three. Each cart is awarded points for participation but the Win,
Place & Show positions get the highest points. The points are adding
up and we're off for another poker card

Our last event was another new one. How about a
"timed" trip through the lower trails... Backwards? Everyone made it
through the coarse... eventually. The fastest time won the most points and
the slowest, well let's just say they almost had to wake us up upon their
return....
The final Poker cards were handed out and the
hands were collected by Beckie to help tally the final scores.
Uncle Larry was right on time with the
tenderloins and we enjoyed a fantastic dinner. After dinner Dale announced
the results in the games noting "two" ties. We had a tie for Last place
and First Place. Our first place winners each received a trophy and the
majority of the money collected from entry fees. Third place winning paid
back their entry fee so they had a fun day on the golf cart, a wonderful
dinner and left a Happy Camper!
After all the fun, games and food, we lined up
for our annual "follow the leader" on the golf carts. Dale led the group
around for almost two hours across the roads and through the trails.
We would like to thank ALL the participants and
the many helpers that helped make this a wonderful weekend.
The weather was dismal on Friday but as Dale
predicted, the rain missed the campground Saturday and we enjoyed a
beautiful 70's day with allot of sunshine.
We strive to promote golf cart safety throughout
the season but especially during the GCG weekend. As the Golf carts are a
wonderful way to commute through the campground, we expect the drivers to
be courteous to pedestrians and other campers.
